Odee, a Yuwaalaraay/Gamilaraay man, continues his family's legacy of language and culture revitalisation.

He works in various educational settings, from early childhood to tertiary.

Through Maran.Giirr, he trains Gamilaraay language educators, expanding learning opportunities and contributing to language reawakening.

Odee is based on the eastern side of Gamilaraay country now around Tamworth, but with connections to both Coonamble and Walgett, on the Western boundary of Gamilaraay.

He hopes to inspire others to join the journey of revitalising their ancestral language.

Odee will be a Language Facilitator at Paper & Talk 2025.

 

Guest /Casual Trainer - Chris Morganson

Chris Morganson is a Warrungu and Nywaigi man from North Queensland, Townsville.

He currently works in the Australian Defence Force.

In his spare time Chris works with Living Languages towards revitalising his language, and is working on language learning materials in between practising the language with his family.

It is his dream that one day he can speak fluently and effortlessly with his daughter and family.

Chris will be a Language Facilitator at Paper & Talk 2025.

 

Guest Trainer - Micklo Jarrett

Uncle Micklo Jarrett is a member of the Baga-Baga clan of the Gumbaynggirr language group on the mid-north coast of NSW. He grew up surrounded by Elders who taught him Gumbaynggirr ways of knowing and thinking as taught by the Ancestors. As an adult he increased his knowledge with the assistance from Murrbay Aboriginial Language and Culture Cooperative of who he is now the Chairperson. Uncle Micklo has an early childhood teaching qualifications and holds a Masters Degree in Indigenous Languages Education by the University of Sydney. Uncle Micklo has got extensive teaching experience of over 25 years. With his ancestral knowledge and connection to Country, aptitude for storytelling, together with his understanding of modern education he is looking forward to sharing with you and his partner Ilka a unique bilingual experience bringing together story, song, yoga and deep relaxation as well as his language Gumbaynggirr.
