Training with Living Languages
Our training aims to support the long-term maintenance and sustainability of Australia’s languages. We share knowledge and skills you need to look after your own language - to learn it and teach it, and to design and manage your own language projects.
Since it began nationally in 2012, our training has contributed to the effectiveness and capacity of Indigenous Language Centres and grassroots Community Language Teams.
When you join Living Languages training, you also learn to share your skills with others in your workplace and community and beyond: many people who participate in our workshops also join us in other capacities - as guest trainers, advisors, speakers and more!
We offer different types of training depending on the language needs of your community. Follow the links below to learn more or contact us.
Teaching yourself language? Teaching others? Planning a project or just wondering how to get started? We can plan a workshop or series of workshops especially for your team, language, and situation.
Living Languages offers two nationally recognised training programs:
Our Professional Development workshops are special occasional events that give you the opportunity to spend an intensive period of time with language activists from around Australia, increasing your skills in linguistics, language teaching, advocacy and project management.
