Strengthening Yugambeh Language Through Community Collaboration

On September the 16th & 17th, Living Languages facilitators  travelled to Yugambeh Country to meet with members of the Yugambeh community and the wider community for a big yarn about language.

The workshop brought together different family groups to talk about how to strengthen Yugambeh language across sectors, and to work together on solving language-related challenges. Participants led the discussions, sharing their revitalisation experiences drawn from personal language journeys, workplace initiatives, and broader community efforts. These conversations created opportunities to exchange ideas, build knowledge, and gain valuable insights from one another.

It was a fantastic few days of connecting, listening, and learning together. The workshop not only deepened conversations about Yugambeh language but also strengthened community connections and relationships that will support ongoing revitalisation efforts.

We are very grateful to the Yugambeh Museum for hosting us, and to everyone who joined the conversations and shared their knowledge and experiences.
