Youth Professional Development Workshop May 2019

May 2019 saw our first ever Professional Development Workshop for Youth. Living Languages/RNLD has previously had six Professional Development Workshops but none for a specific age group. For 2019's PD Workshop, we targeted youth doing any type of language work, from around the country, aged 18-30. Participants came from various places and language groups from around Australia, to participate in a 4-day workshop in Melbourne.

Fitzroy Crossing Workshop Nov 2018

The 13-15 of November saw Trainer Ebony Joachim along with guest co-trainers Hiroko Shioji and Coco Yu (Yawuru teachers from Nyamba Buru Yawuru, in Broome) in Fitzroy Crossing, WA. The three days focussed on language learning and teaching - with Bunuba, Gooniyandi and Walmajarri speakers with various work backgrounds joining us for the workshop.

Aurukun Workshop Aug 2018

Trainers Andrew and Amy headed to Aurukun, Queensland, from 13-16 August to run a workshop at Koolkan Aurukun State School. The school is working hard to reintroduce bilingual education to the community, and is pioneering the integration of Indigenous knowledge and language into the curriculum itself.

Geraldton Workshop May 2018

Trainers Ebony and Andrew returned to Geraldton 22-24 May to run a workshop with representatives from the Wajarri and Malgana communities of WA’s Mid West. For some participants, this was the third consecutive RNLD workshop they have attended at the Bundiyarra Aboriginal Corporation’s fantastic Irra Wangga Language Centre.
